Holiday planning

The holiday madness is about to begin!  I know I love the seemingly endless stream of cards that starts to show up in the next month or so.  Not only do I get a kick out of hearing what family and friends are up to these days, but its fun to see the yearly photo updating me on new family additions,  engagements, marriages, growth spurts of the younger kids, hair styles of the older kids, or simply the smiles brought on by life.

I'd love to help you create that special picture you'll be sending out to everyone you know. For only $50 you'll have a half an hour sitting at a location of your choosing inside the Atlanta metro area.  I will create an online album of the session where you can select two photos to be fully edited and saved in high resolution on a CD for printing.  For an additional fee more pictures may be chosen.

**Think of all the gifts you can create! Not only will you have a great photo to print, frame and send to the parents or grandparents, but you can also create your holiday cards, thank you cards, wall calendars, mugs, mouse pads, ornaments, etc.  Last year I created calendars for my family through Walgreens.com and they turned out great! They often have great sales so you can cover your whole family for cheap! ;)

Keep in mind that editing photos and delivering the CD with images may take several days. So plan ahead! Special good through the month of November.

Sugar & Spice...

I am so excited to celebrate the upcoming arrival of my friend Natalie's first little girl (she already has two beautiful young boys).  Oh the joys of dresses, everything pink, flowers and little girl shoes!  It was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon with Natalie taking pictures and watching her house-full of boys share their love and excitement over the anticipation of little Giselle's arrival.  Congratulations Rick and Natalie!

Got Swagger?

The Urban Dictionary defines swagger: To move with confidence, sophistication and to be cool. Swagger is to conduct your self in a way that would automatically earn respect.  To dress in a very stylish and quirkily fasionable way would suggest one has swagger. 


I have no doubt, that the Swagger Crew has their name right.  If you have ever watched them on stage (the list goes on and on, but you may have caught them on ABDC season 5, BET Hip hop music awards, or the 2009 Soul Train awards just to name a few spots...) you have witnessed just how "cool" they can be.  However, you have really gotten lucky if you've had the chance to hang out and chat with any of the Swagger Crew members.  They are friendly, professional and will have you laughing through the entire conversation. 


Be sure to check them out and try to take a class or two! Swagger Crew is also dedicated to fighting childhood obesity through their program Swagger Crew Fit Kidz.  They have definitely earned my respect and I am proud to call them my friends.

Oh the power!

It is a lucky person to be surrounded by friends that they can admire for various qualities.  I am one of those fortunate people.  I was able to add a strong woman to my little circle this summer, and was even more fortunate to be able to take pictures of her the other day and show the beauty in the strength we women can have.  This includes the strength we had to have when running, in 4" heels, as the train came racing at us down the tracks! YIKES! LOL! 

A Gaggle of Girls

I was a little nervous with the idea of shooting seven, yes seven, girls at one time.  Haven't you ever tried taking a group picture?  I believe it might be one of the laws of the universe that one person must blink every time a camera shutter goes off. But.... with the help of Rhonda (on hair), Kat (on make-up), Julissa (the pose master) and seven bubbling, smiling girls...all was well in the world of photography.  I'm so excited to finish editing these photos since they are coming out as bright and colorful as the experience.

Last minute decisions

Not all things that are done last minute are bad.  In fact, sometimes they turn out pretty great.  So when I got a message on Wednesday about doing a photo shoot on Friday, I had to really get my act together.  Everything seemed to just fall into place and we had a great time on top of everything. Thanks to Kat for doing Ingrid's makeup and keeping us all smiling with an "oohh, that's hot" comment. Lol

Bright Lights

I thought that working with the little light provided at the Revolu Dance Theater Company fundraiser was not only going to be challenging, but that it might prove near impossible.  As a spectator the spotlight on the dancers created a great theatrical effect.  However, through a camera lens my camera and my eyes were struggling.  In the end, the light and the performers came together and created a super show and I got some great pictures. You just never know what you might learn from certain situations, and you never know what effects you can get until you try!  More photos posted on the website.

Expecting...

Its funny how things come in waves.  As of late, there seems to be a baby wave.  At work, there are three pregnant woman and one who just came back from maternity leave.  Three good friends of mine are pregnant and one just had a gorgeous little girl a little over a month ago.  There is just something about that expecting mommy glow.  Its pretty dang unbelievable.  It seems to radiate out of every pore.

The first taker of our latest special, is no exception of the radiant-mommy-to-be glow.  Beth was beaming from the moment I walked in the door, and her husband really had the same glow every time he looked at her.  This couple had me smiling through the whole photo shoot.  The two of them had such a great sense of humor and it was such a joy to hear the two of them continually gush about each other.

Mothers Are Special Every Day!

I know that there is a day set aside for mothers.  For many people this is a good reminder to tell that special woman in their life how much she means to them.  But it seems to me that this should be done more often...like every day.  If nothing else, let's start with at least one extra day...pick one...any day between now and actual mother's day.

As an encouragement for you my friends and I are offering up a special to help you show your mom/wife/grandmother/ (or dad/sister/cousin/friend/yourself...we aren't picky) just how great you think she is inside and out.  For $150 the three of us will come to a location of your choice (inside the Atlanta Metro area) and pamper that special person by doing their hair, makeup and taking some great photos so that they remember the occasion.  Check out the website for more details!

Baby Glow

Its true what they say: Mothers-to-be just have a certain "glow."  And there is no doubt that is true of Anayansy.  It was a pleasure for my friends Rhonda (styling hair), Katalina (make-up) and I to join Ana in her home to capture that lovely hue of happiness.  Check out the website for more photos as I continue to edit :)

 

Ladies Night Out

Ok, so I lied. It was a late afternoon out.  But the dresses, the hair, the lips and the heels were all killer...as were the attitudes. Vintage Beauty

Sometimes it is hard to pick a favorite. In this case, I can't pick a favorite picture, a favorite person or a favorite smile that was shared the other day.  I'm only having a hard time picking a favorite picture, because almost EVERY picture turned out great!  The only unusable pictures are when my flash didn't go off. Lol! And there is nothing like working with friends Rhonda Kaleta (styling hair) and Katalina Isabel (doing makeup) when the chatting, and laughing don't seem to stop.  Add into that mix another friend, Ju, who is not only stunning but also full of smiles herself.  The only downfall of the afternoon was that we ran out of time and couldn't do all the options that we wanted. I have to say I'm pleased with what we got and I can't wait to do it again! Be sure to check my website as I add more photos! Here's a taste :)

Teamwork!

I think taking pictures is fun.  What makes it even more fun?  When you can get several friends to enjoy the process together.  Sabina served as our canvas for this shoot, while Rhonda provided the hairdos and Katalina used her Mary Kay magic.  Mix in yummy treats, Kat's new puppy, dresses, heels and laughter...it was a good girlie time. ;)

Denver in December

The joy of getting to visit Denver in December is generally enhanced by a lovely blanket of snow. Now that I live in the south, snow is something I don't get to experience anymore.  Wouldn't you know it that the one week I pick to head towards the Rocky Mountains...it snows in Atlanta (real snow! It stuck to the ground and everything!) while it was in the 60's and sunny in Denver. Sigh.

That didn't mean that my trip was a bust, it just meant that it was warmer.  In fact, spending time with my nephew was definitely worth the flight and then some.  He is ADORABLE!  A happy kid who appreciates my antics and laughs at just about everything I could come up with. Score!  I took my dog Manly with me on the trip.  Although he cried most of the flight (luckily he's cute so all was forgiven by those sitting next to me), but happily played with my family's border collies and labs.
